On March 6-8 in the UAE within the BRICS+ New Economy Legal Forum, partners, top managers and heads of legal departments of Russian and international corporations dealt with topical legal and economic issues and discussed the creation of legal infrastructure for international trade and investment in the new macroeconomic environment.

On March 7, Nikita Zharov, Head of Tax Compliance Practice, spoke at the session «Legal Reality: Current Business Issues in 2024». The expert's speech was devoted to tax and anti-sanctions restrictions for companies operating abroad. 

Businesses are forced to adapt to new changes, with new countries taking the place of familiar jurisdictions. Nikita conducted a comparative analysis of the double taxation treaties (DTAs) that Russia has with the BRICS+ countries, assessing the features and opportunities for different structures. He stressed that the main supporting tools for Russian business under sanctions are the possibility of establishing organizations in «friendly» jurisdictions, as well as judicial protection of residents in the Russian Federation.
